VOLUNTEERING
SHUMAS, to date, has provided voluntary work experience to more than 300 young persons in their "gap year" but also to many older persons wishing to gain more experience, but who also may have useful experience to share.
About 100 volunteers from Europe, North America and Australia have already participated in our schemes.
Most European volunteers come to us via our UK partner, AidCamps International and further details are obtainable from their website www.aidcamps.org.
Cameroon Support Organisation (Camso), based in Fort Collins, Colorado, USA, and Anne Dance's group in Guelph in Canada are also recruiting volunteers who will be helping us meet our objectives.
We offer diverse voluntary positions to many volunteers to work on our projects and programmes throughout the year and we accept volunteers of all nationalities.
Though most positions require no academic or professional qualifications some do require specific skills. Do you have a specialist skill you would love to share with us? Click to our Jobs Vacant page to see the voluntary positions we are current looking to fill.
The opportunities we offer on our projects and programmes are very
flexible. Duration ranges from 1 week to 52 weeks. Volunteering with
SHUMAS gives
prospective volunteers a chance to
work on a wide variety of grassroots projects. There is a wonderful
opportunity to interact with different cultures in varied locations
as well as the opportunity to work and live with local people.
To ensure successful developmental intervention, SHUMAS networks with a cross section of institutions, other NGOs, educational and health establishments, church based institutions, etc. See our partners page.
We do not discriminate ....what we ask of our volunteers is that they be highly motivated and be tolerant of other cultures.
For more information write to us with your details and area of interest, through our Contact Page.
